Ophthalmology

Pediatric ophthalmologists specialize in children's eye care. They focus on the diagnosis and treatment, including surgery, of diseases and disorders of the eye as well as difficulty reading or learning. If related problems, such as eyes that are misaligned (strabismus), amblyopia (“lazy eye”)  or focusing issues, are diagnosed and treated early, good vision can develop and be maintained. Pediatric ophthalmologists can issue prescriptions for glasses and/or contact lenses and treat eye infections, chalazia, glaucoma, blocked tear ducts and inflammations. They may also perform surgical procedures as needed.
