Dr. William Wallace named medical director of perioperative services for Marshall Health Network

Dr. William Wallace has been named medical director of perioperative services for Marshall Health Network (MHN). In this role, Wallace will integrate evidence-based perioperative management services across all facilities of MHN.

Perioperative medicine is the medical care patients receive before, during and after surgery to support a safe and smooth recovery.

“We are pleased to have Dr. Wallace as our new medical director of perioperative medicine,” said Dr. Hoyt Burdick, chief medical officer of MHN. “Dr. Wallace brings a deep expertise in surgical coordination and perioperative care that will help us enhance quality, streamline processes and expand access to surgical services across our system. His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to deliver safe, efficient and patient-centered care.”

Wallace is an associate professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and medical director of the Joint Replacement Center at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine (MU JCESOM). He earned his medical degree from Marshall before graduating from his residency in Family Medicine at the Marshall School of Medicine. Wallace is board-certified in Family Medicine. He has been practicing at Marshall Orthopaedics since 2004 and specializes in perioperative medicine and the care of hospitalized post-surgical patients. He is recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, a distinction he has earned since 2021.
